Democratic Congress- They’re Not Just Doing Their Jobs — They’re Holding the Line While the Country Burns

Let us be very clear about something — when you see those members of Congress standing tall with their heads high and their spines unshaken, you're not watching a political stunt. You’re witnessing real resistance. You’re watching a line being drawn between the people and the abyss. And in case anyone forgot what actual leadership looks like, that right there is it — because in a time where fear has silenced too many, they are still showing up, still speaking out, and still refusing to sit back while democracy gets gutted in plain sight.

They’re not throwing chairs or flipping tables. They’re doing something far more dangerous to authoritarian power — they’re refusing to comply. They’re using their voice, their vote, their platform, and their sheer presence to push back against a system trying to force them into submission. They are not afraid to protest with their positions. They are not afraid to say “no” when told to kneel. That’s not weakness. That’s not obstruction. That’s courage — and in a country where corruption gets praised and cruelty gets clapped for, courage is damn near revolutionary.

They will not stand by while people get trampled. They will not be silent while this country is gutted by greed and hate. And they sure as hell will not sit down and behave because some power-drunk tyrant demands obedience like this is some dictatorship out of a history book.

It's absolutely insane that this administration is trying to twist arms and manipulate the law just to force people — elected by the people — to do what they have every right to refuse. It's not just unethical. It’s un-American. These lawmakers are doing what every public servant should be doing — protecting the people, not appeasing the powerful.

Well, they’re doing their jobs. They’re standing up when it’s easier to sit down, speaking out when silence would buy them comfort, and defending democracy even as the weight of threats, lies, and hate crashes down like a storm that never lets up — and if that’s not what leaders are supposed to do, then someone better explain what leadership even means anymore, because I’m not here to applaud cowards who trade their spine for a paycheck and a pat on the back from power.

They’re not bending the knee to fascism. They’re not playing nice with tyranny. They’re not pretending that a traitor waving a flag gets to call himself a patriot. They’re standing in the fire because they know what’s at stake — because when you love a country for what it could be, not just for what it says it is, then you fight like hell to keep it from being dragged into the dirt by those too broken and bitter to believe in anything beyond their own reflection.

So no — we’re not the ones trying to change the rules because a billionaire brat in a red tie throws tantrums like truth is optional and consequences don’t apply. We’re not the ones torching the Constitution while screaming about freedom. We’re not the ones glorifying hate, worshiping wealth, and rewriting history to fit a twisted fantasy where cruelty is power and lies are gospel.

We’re not confused. We’re not lost. We see what’s happening.

This isn’t disagreement — this is destruction. This isn’t politics — this is a full-blown cult built around a man who couldn’t care less about the people cheering his name. And while they march in circles convinced that America belongs to them and them alone, the rest of us are standing up with everything we’ve got, refusing to let this nation collapse under the weight of delusion and cowardice.

We don’t answer to a dictator. We don’t follow bullies. We don’t fall in line for fascism.

And no — we don’t hate America. We hate what it’s being turned into by the very people pretending to “save” it while burning everything good to the ground. We hate the lies, the fear, the ignorance, the cruelty. We hate the way justice gets twisted until the guilty walk free and the innocent suffer in silence. We hate the way truth is mocked, decency is dismissed, and power is worshipped like a god.

But we love the people. We love the ones still fighting. We love the ones who refuse to be silent. We love the ones who remember that democracy isn’t some fragile gift handed down by the elite — it’s something we build, every single day, with our voices, our votes, our courage, and our refusal to back down.

So if you’re still asking what’s going on, the answer is simple:

Some of us are trying to save this place — and some of you are trying to burn it down.

And to the Trump supporters lurking in the background, waiting to comment, argue, or cry about how offended you are — don’t bother. I didn’t write this for you. You weren’t tagged. You’re not invited. And I don’t come back to debate cult members.

Love always,
Santiago D.C. Maria
