A Call to Action: The Dangerous Rhetoric of Division

A Call to Action: The Dangerous Rhetoric of Division

I’m sitting here, heart pounding, trying to make sense of the chaos unfolding before us. The news is relentless, and it’s hard to keep up with the flood of revelations from the Epstein files, the looming midterms, and the increasingly unhinged behavior of Donald Trump. It feels like we’re standing on the edge of something dangerous, something that could tear us apart if we don’t act. I’m not one to exaggerate, but what I’m hearing—Trump’s own words—has me deeply worried for our safety, our communities, and our future.

Let me paint the picture. Trump, a former president with a platform that still commands millions, is out there telling his MAGA followers that if they don’t like someone—anyone who disagrees with them—they should do “whatever they want” to them. Those words aren’t just reckless; they’re a match thrown into a pile of dry kindling. This isn’t a vague tweet or an offhand comment. This is a deliberate call to action, a green light for his most loyal supporters to target anyone they deem an enemy. That’s us, folks—ordinary people who dare to think differently, who dare to challenge his narrative. We’re not just talking about political disagreements anymore; this feels like a direct threat to our safety.

I keep replaying his words in my head, and each time, they hit harder. “Do whatever they want.” What does that even mean? We’ve seen what happens when rhetoric like this takes hold—January 6th wasn’t just a one-off; it was a warning. I think about my neighbors, my friends, my family. Are we supposed to just sit back and wait for someone to act on this dangerous permission slip? Are we supposed to trust that this will all blow over? No. We can’t afford to wait. This isn’t a game, and it’s not politics as usual. This is a former president inciting his base to see us as targets, and it’s terrifying.

I’m not someone who jumps to conclusions lightly. I’ve followed the news, read the reports, and watched the videos from his rallies. The Epstein files keep surfacing, exposing connections that make my stomach turn, and the midterms are amplifying the tension. Trump seems desperate, like a cornered animal lashing out. He’s not just rallying his base for votes; he’s rallying them for a fight. He’s painting a picture where anyone who opposes him is an enemy to be dealt with, no questions asked. That’s not leadership—that’s a playbook for chaos.

What scares me most is the silence from those who could stop this. Where are the leaders stepping up to say, “Enough is enough”? Where are the laws to protect us from this kind of incitement? I’m not calling for violence—I’m calling for accountability. We need action, and we need it now. The 25th Amendment exists for a reason. Impeachment processes exist for a reason. When a leader—former or current—uses their platform to endanger lives, there have to be consequences. If our institutions won’t act, what does that say about our democracy? What does it say about our safety?

I think about my kids, my community, the people I pass on the street every day. We’re not just faceless “opponents” to be swept aside. We’re people with lives, dreams, and fears. I imagine the fear in someone’s heart when they hear a former president say, essentially, “Take care of them however you see fit.” That’s not a dog whistle—it’s a megaphone. And yet, here we are, expected to go about our days as if this is normal. It’s not normal. It’s not okay. A president, even a former one, shouldn’t be stoking division that puts lives at risk.

I’m pleading with anyone reading this to take this seriously. We can’t just scroll past and hope someone else deals with it. If Trump’s words are allowed to fester, if his supporters feel empowered to act without restraint, we’re all in danger. I’m not saying we should live in fear, but we can’t be complacent either. We need to demand that our elected officials act—impeach him, invoke the 25th Amendment, do whatever it takes to stop this spiral. If they don’t, and if push comes to shove, we’ll have no choice but to protect ourselves and our communities from those who take his words as a call to arms.

This is personal for me. I think about the people I love, the values I hold dear, and the country I want to believe in. I’m not ready to give up on it, but I’m also not naive enough to think this will fix itself. We need to stand together, speak out, and push for change before this rhetoric turns into something even uglier. I’m urging everyone reading this to call your representatives, share this message, and demand accountability. We can’t pause. We can’t afford to.

I’m holding onto hope, but it’s a fragile thing right now. Let’s make our voices louder than the hate. Let’s show that we won’t be intimidated or silenced. We deserve better than this. Our kids deserve better than this. Our country deserves better than this.
